What we do

ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) is a sandwich panel: two thin aluminum skins bonded to a mineral or polyethylene core. Pre-finished colour, sharp edges, dead-flat surfaces, and a service life that crosses thirty years when the substructure and joints are detailed correctly.

The visible panel is the easy part. The flashing, sub-girt geometry, expansion joints, and corner conditions are where ACM jobs either succeed or fail. We have priced and installed ACM work where the cladding outlasted the building it was put on — and walked from jobs where the previous contractor priced the panels but skipped the flashings.

FAQ

Common questions.

The questions we hear most often on acm cladding estimates.

  • How long does ACM cladding last?

Factory-finished ACM panels carry 20-year coating warranties and routinely service 30+ years before any visible degradation. The aluminum substrate itself does not corrode in normal exposure — failure modes are about the substructure, sealants, and panel-to-panel joints, not the panel material.

  • Is ACM safe? What about fire-rated cores?

We specify mineral-core (FR/A2) panels exclusively on Canadian commercial work. Polyethylene-core panels are still legal in some residential applications but we do not install them on multi-storey buildings. Always ask any cladding contractor which core they are quoting.

  • How is ACM different from metal siding or corrugated panels?

ACM is a flat composite panel cut and folded to the building's geometry — sharp reveals, custom shapes, concealed fasteners. Metal siding is a stocked profile in a single repeating pattern. Different aesthetic, different price point, different install method.

  • Will it work on a residential project?

Yes. ACM is increasingly common on custom contemporary homes — full facades, accent walls, soffits, and band courses. Residential ACM is priced higher per square foot than stucco or stone but lower than most natural-stone equivalents.
